Marissa flinched and scowled. Duane hid his smile at the victory. He knew she would hate the phrase “to keep you.”
“He didn’t buy it. I did.” She said fiercely.
“What do you mean?” Duane asked with false innocence. He had found the lie, but not the reasoning behind it.
